JP’s Gun Cave,

Originally located in Alturas CA, and started as a cellular phone store under the trade name of Modoc Wireless. We began the transition to a firearm retailer at the end of 2011. By the end of 2012, cellular phones were a thing of the past. Firearms and related products took over. Small towns have its own set of problems for small businesses, and among other reasons we relocated to Cottonwood Ca. towards the end of 2018. Here I began as a hobby and side gig.

By the middle of 2019, I nearly had the notion to close the doors permanently. I nearly lost the spark that I started with as I was not making any income. I had a nudge of encouragement in September, 2019 and by the end of 2019 I began changing direction. I committed time, regular hours and started to get some advertising going.

Things really changed in 2020. The Covid Pandemic created a demand surge for firearms and ammunition. Most stores reserves and access to products began to dwindled to bare shelves. Restrictions on what was considered essential by the government affected all stores throughout CA and the US. This however, created a spot for my small independent shop in the community with my friendly service, helpful attitude and ambitions to find products and a commitment to not price gouge my customers.

As products remained hard to find through out 2020 and 2021, they began to become more available in 2022. At this point, my commitment to my customers has allowed my shop to persevere and now nestled in a small spot in Cottonwood Ca, we are here to serve our customers and will continue to endure the regulations set upon us by the CA legislature.

At this time, we are closing out 2023 and moving into 2024 with unprecedented changes in laws that will affect all firearm retails large and small.
